Transforming the future of tribal youth through quality education
AT ITITI WE BELIEVE IN PROVIDING FREE EDUCATION TO THE TRIBAL YOUTH TO EMPOWER THEM IN BECOMING LEADERS OF TOMORROW.
Information Technology Institute for the Tribes of India (ITITI), a charitable educational institution, is a dream project structured to provide a better future to our nation’s tribal youth through quality education.
ITITI was inaugurated on January 28, 2004 by the then Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The institute currently has students from Uttaranchal, the North-Eastern states and Ladakh.
ITITI is unique in the sense that it provides education to tribal children as per the CBSE syllabus, while parallely using Information Technology as a tool for education.
Located in the Jhajhra Village of Dehradun, in the Uttarakhand region of India, ITITI offers tribal youth an opportunity to join the mainstream by providing them a futuristic vision and rekindling in them a hope for a better and more confident future.
The Institute also sows the seeds of entrepreneurship in tribal youth so that they can contribute to the development of tribal regions they belong to and the nation as a whole.
Tribal children from Chushul on our northern-most frontier of Tawang and distant villages off Dimapur and Kohima and Gangtok and Kachar and Haflong - they all are here with distinct languages, cultural hues, dialects, but share one dream – "Kuch Karke Dikhana Hai" (We have to do something to show to the world).
The students are being offered free of cost residential accommodation, formal education from classes VI-XII based on the scheme of studies of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), together with training in Information Technology.
By offering quality education and supplementing it with a tailor-made computers and Information Technology training, the Institute hopes to, at the end of the formal senior secondary level, to put students on the path of either IT entrepreneurship or the pursuit of higher academic excellence by way of enrolment in professional courses.
We believe, quality education supplemented with training in IT (Information Technology) will lead them towards a more confident and prosperous future.
We believe, quality education supplemented with training in IT (Information Technology) will lead them towards a more confident and prosperous future.
Every year the Indian government spends thousands of crores in fighting insurgency. Spending only a fraction of that in addressing the cause, an inadequate educational climate, will go a long way.
We urge the stalwarts of the IT Industry to contribute towards the growth of the country, and to bring newer opportunities to their fellow Indians.
We request corporate and individuals to volunteer, to contribute and participate actively in such initiatives.
